I WEAR: The Berkeley Green

When I think of Berkeley, the first thing that comes to mind is the seemingly ever-present lush greenery. It cocooned my first dorm, spread itself like a moat around my first apartment, and is currently tickling my balcony doors as if to attempt entry.

So we're back to another lookbook post with look #6: The Berkeley Green. Inspired by its namesake.

I WEAR: Painting Icarus

Tidbit about me: I am smitten with Ancient Greece.

I love its mythology, its ideals, its literature, its art & architecture, and the Renaissance it inspired. But in particular, I am fascinated by the concept of hubris. Roughly translated, hubris means "great pride", is the widest cause of downfall in Classic mythology, and has been the topic of way too many of my art history papers.

So here you have it, look #5: Painting Icarus. Inspired by the story of Icarus, son of Daedalus and poster-boy victim of hubris.

I WEAR: A Yearbook Take

Though summer has been over for many of my student friends, my vacation's lasted longer than normal due to the fact that I'm studying abroad in London for all of next year. But with less than ten days left before my move to Europe, I've got to admit I'm starting to get those "new school year" butterflies in my stomach.

Call me a bit of a geek, but I love getting ready for the start of a school year: book shopping, color-coding binders, and this year, settling into a whole new school, city, and continent! So in honor of the start of the 2011/2012 academic year...

Look #4: A Yearbook Take. Inspired by back-to-school season and the annual (well, in past days anyway) yearbook picture tradition.

I WEAR: Way of the Sword

So guess what I did today?

My friend Carol, who happens to be an amazing photography student, and I spent a portion of the day photographing new looks. You'll get to see one today and the rest in the coming days; so be sure to keep checking back!

Look #3: Way of the Sword. Inspired by samurai films and the dynamism of kendo bogu.

I WEAR: The Neon Reptile

Well, would you look at who has another post up? I'm trying to post at least once a day, and so far so good. Although I probably shouldn't say it or I'll jinx it.

Look #2: The Neon Reptile. Inspired by the dragon in Disney's Electrical Parade.

I WEAR: A Limoncello Dream

My first Lookbook post is finally up! It's taken me forever, because I've been a bit shy about the whole process, but I'm glad to finally start sharing my love for fashion with all of you.

To me, style is a form of self-expression. You create something- a painting, a dance, an outfit- and you project a piece of yourself outward for all the world to see. Which is why I've decided to theme all my looks around the random personal memories that inspire them.

Here's to hoping you enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy putting them together!

First up: A Limoncello Dream. Inspired by the light feeling of drinking limoncello in the summertime, bathed in sunlight, and surrounded by the best of friendly company.

I THINK: Goodbye New York

At long last, my summer is drawing to a close. And it's bittersweet.

Although there's so many amazing opportunities waiting up ahead, I can't help but get a little teary-eyed about leaving New York City tomorrow. You know that feeling you get when you know you're completely, desperately in love with someone? That's how this city makes me feel. Like without its rude abruptness, brisk pace, and ever-present promise of adventure, I'll never feel completely settled again.

So for nostalgia's sake (and for need of blogging material), here are some of the greatest moments from my summer in the Big Apple.

I GO: Animal Kingdom (Giraffes, Yetis, And Me... Oh My!)

And the last of the Orlando posts is here. For the grand finale, Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom!

Having never been on a safari, second to Harry Potter World, I was probably the most excited to visit this park. I even dressed appropriately and busted out an animal print-esque shirt.

I GO: Harry Potter World (I Am No Longer A Muggle)

The Orlando posts continue with a partial re-cap on our third day. After two days of Disney overload, we ventured away to Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure, and more importantly, the Wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter. So I've decided to dedicate the post entirely to our time there.

If you're a Potter geek like me, J.K. Rowling still has you hoping for your invitation to join Hogwart's student body.

After near a decade of waiting, mine finally came... in the form of an amusement park ticket, that is. But hey, I'll take it.

So here you have it: the highlight reel from my long-overdue rendezvous with the wizarding world.

I GO: The Magic Kingdom

The second Orlando post is here! And fittingly enough, it is about our second day in Orlando.

After a rather laidback first day, we decided we were ready tackle the Magic Kingdom.

I GO: Epcot (Around The World In 4.5 Hours)

Time for the big reveal! If you haven't guessed it yet...

This past week/weekend, I made my way down to theme park mecca: Orlando, Florida. So here it is. The first of several Orlando-dedicated posts.

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you I'm the one of the biggest Disney dorks you'll ever meet. Earlier in the summer, I'd lost my dignity visited that blessed adult playground called Viva Las Vegas. So I decided this trip around, my inner child deserved to frolic in its preferred stomping grounds.

Upon arriving in Orlando after a sleepless night and too-early morning flight, we thought it wise to kick off our Disneyworld adventure on a low-key note... by traveling around the world.

That is, Epcot's World Showcase. I present to you now the low-resolution showreel of our travels' greatest hits.

We snap some postcard moments in front of Epcot's signature durian-like dome, and I debut a pair of ill-fitting, slightly diaper-like shorts (that strangely did not appear that way until these pictures were taken).
